Registering with overseas qualifications/experience

If you have recently arrived into New Zealand and have overseas experience working in an electrical trade, you need to get registered here in New Zealand to be able to work.

First, you need to contact the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB), as they are the only ones who can decide what you are required to do to become registered in New Zealand. They are the ones who register and issue you with a practicing license to be able to work.

You can contact Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) or call 0800 661 000.

You will need to submit to them:

  • Evidence of qualification completed
  • Evidence of courses completed.
  • Evidence of work experience including details of work done, hours served etc.

The EWRB will then send you a letter advising you on what you are required to do.

Here at E-tec we offer a wide range of courses that can assist you in achieving NZ Registration.  Take a look through our courses and enrol directly via the website, or contact us if you need any advice.
