Brian Wilson – Electrotechnology Trainer
When Brian was eight, his uncle gave him a small electric motor. When he was twelve, he began working with him on the weekends, and reading everything he could about electronics. He completed his electrical engineering qualifications while working for Telecom.
After working as a manager for Telstra Clear in NZ and Victoria Electricity in Australia, Brian got into teaching in 2011. Returning to Auckland he enrolled in a Regulations course, where he was promptly offered a job as a casual lecturer. He progressed to a permanent role lecturing in Maths, and Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, before moving to E-Tec in 2021.
“I love learning, and I don’t withhold information. I want to infect trainees with a bit of that passion. They will be running their own businesses someday, and should believe they can explore that. They’re students now, but soon they will be our peers.”
