Registering with overseas qualifications / experience
If you have recently arrived into New Zealand and have overseas experience working in an electrical trade, you need to get registered here in New Zealand to be able to work.
First, you need to contact the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB), as they are the only ones who can decide what you are required to do to become registered in New Zealand. They are the ones who register and issue you with a practicing licence to be able to work.
You can contact Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) or call 0800 661 000.
You will need to submit to the EWRB:
- Evidence of qualification completed.
- Evidence of courses completed.
- Evidence of work experience including details of work done, hours served etc.
The EWRB will then send you a letter advising you on what you are required to do.
At E-tec we offer a wide range of courses that can assist you in achieving NZ registration. Take a look through our courses and enrol directly via this website, or contact us if you need any advice.
The Process:
- Book your course online or contact us on 09 573 1964.
- Attend and complete the course.
- Following the successful completion of your required course(s), E-tec will submit all relevant documentation to the EWRB to be processed.
- Once the EWRB has processed and accepted your course completion you will be able to apply for your practicing licence. You can go to the EWRB website to download a form and get started.
